This Years Best Productivity Booster

2010 saw many new software, SAAS, and business services released to help small businesses, and entreprenuers become more productive. As a consultant, I often find myself testing and trying anything I can get my hands on. As I always say: A savings of 5 minutes per day is 20 hours (or half a work week) per year. If you make $60K per year, your time is worth around $30 per hour.  That values a 5 minute daily savings around $500 per year. Thats just in hard costs.

You can see how a small change in procedure, or a service, or new technology can really increase your productivity, or save you money if you are in your own business.

A particular service called YouMail has by far made the most impact on my life, within the 1st day of using it. Nothing has impacted my productivity more in the last year, and maybe the last 3 years as this service.

We have all been in meetings, on a phone call, or otherwise indisposed and the phone rings. Its usually slightly less important than what you are currently doing, and in a perfect world, you wish you could just have the person that is calling you text you, or email you so you could discretely respond. Better yet, you wish you had a secretary to take the message, and give it to you when you are done.

The simple act of transcribing a voice mail, and it showing up in your inbox a few seconds after the caller hangs up never seemed like a big deal to me...

UNTIL I TRIED IT.

Wow, what a difference it makes. Features like:

  • Visual Voicemail (check voicemails while in a meeting...)
  • Voice to Text transcription (like a personal secretary...This feature is the one that saves me the most time)
  • Custom Greetings (by caller!!, imagine the flexibility / professionalism)
  • Call Blocking (haven't used this yet, but a few people come to mind...)
  • Smartphone, Blackberry, Droid, and Iphone integration (naturally)

and many other features I have yet to get to.

The point is, check out YouMail as soon as you can. Start a trial, but be sure to have your first few messages transcribed (this really is the ultimate productivity booster).

If you are half as busy as I am, you will love this service!
